Gated Communities in Santa Fe

September 27, 2009

Santa Fe gated communities have a prominent place in the Santa Fe real estate market, primarily driven by the second home markets desire for security. Leading that list is Las Campanas to the west of Santa Fe. Featuring two Jack Nicklaus Signature designed championship golf courses, the development is rounded out with a Pool/Spa/Fitness center, a world class Equestrian center, and a main clubhouse for fine dining. The 1717 home sites there have about 400 remaining lots for sale, around 600 homes completed, with an average price of around $1.2 to $1.4. Homes start in the $500’s and go as high as close to $10 million.

The Summit and High Summit are another area featuring gated entrances and dramatic views of Santa Fe. Without any of the amenities of Las Campanas, the allure of the Summit are the towering views and the proximity to town. Beyond that there are smaller subdivisions featuring gated entrances, but many Santa Feans are comfortable on a dirt road just minutes from town, and feel no need for the gated community. As always, it is a subjective choice.
